Here I am finally putting this down, procrastination is a thief of time. I dared to take the moment I made up my mind to start a blog. To write for people to read and relate with and I’m hoping with all of my heart that I do a good job of it. Over the weekend I listened to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Wellesley speech and all I’ve been thinking about since are her words and they are ‘Don’t silence that voice. Dare to take.’ It became my mantra and I decided to make my first blog post about it.
The first time I decided to blog was after I read ‘Americana’ by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I loved raceteenth, so I decided to start a blog of my own. Fast forward to a year, here I am writing my first blog post. It became possible because I dared to take and I believed in myself and I want you to know if I can, then so can you. I, also, developed the courage to face the fear of uncertainties, removed all self-doubts and gained confidence. Easier said than done, I know but I achieved mine and it was because I became confident in myself. I surround myself with people who are helping me grow.

You’ve probably visited a few (hundred?) blogs that are perfect but mine isn’t perfect, at least not yet. I’m a newbie in the blogosphere and I will make mistakes. I’m on this platform trying to be the change I want to see and the change the world needs. The way I can do it is by not silencing my voice.
This blog post is my introduction to the world. I hope I’m making a good first impression because as they say, first impressions last longer. I want you to be impressed, so you’ll come back to see me through this great journey. This isn’t about me alone, it is also about you and I want us to be great friends throughout this journey.
As I have dared to take, I want you to also know we are all capable of taking. You must not silence that wonderful voice inside of you. Don’t just give, take. Do all the things you’ve always wanted to do. Write that book, start the blog and just give it to your best. Don’t forget you are your worst and your best critic. Don’t change yourself to please an amorphous entity called people. Whatever path you want to tread, know you can be the best in it and in Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s words:
“Minister to the world in a way that can change it. Minister radically in a real, active, practical, get your hand’s dirty way’’
